responding to Russian invasion and standing with the people of Ukraine
We share a common love for the United States of America and Ukraine. Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine we have been busy trying to help Ukraine fight for its freedom.
"We are fighting for our freedom and our land, we are fighting for the future of our children and grandchildren, for their life and opportunity to build a new Ukraine"
What is happening in Ukraine
Russia has been waging war against Ukraine since 2014 when it annexed its Crimea peninsula and invaded two eastern regions – the Donbas. On February 24th, 2022 Russia began bombing most large cities across Ukraine in a full-scale invasion. In the 21st century Russia is trying to redefine international order and laws in Europe and the world by brutal attacks on civilians and infrastructure. Peaceful cities, not much different from those in many western countries are being leveled with Putin’s artillery, long-range missiles, and aviation.
Over 10 million people have been displaced in the biggest humanitarian crisis in Europe since World War II. Tens of thousands were killed, including hundreds of children. Human rights abuses, kidnappings, and rape continue to be prevalent in Russian-occupied territories – over 19,000 incidents of war crimes committed by Russian forces have been documented. In the Kyiv region alone, liberated by the Ukrainian Armed forces, over 10 mass graves of Ukrainian civilians killed by Russian soldiers have been found. Cultural and heritage sites have been burned, including 113 confirmed churches.
why everyone should care
Russia’s war threatens not only Ukraine but the rest of Europe. The political stability and freedom in many other countries are in question as Putin compares himself to Peter the Great and his expansionist wars three centuries ago. Ukrainian people are fighting not only for their future and existence but that of many other neighboring nations which are already under the threat of being his next.
Russia will not stop at Ukraine and must be stopped. Ukrainians are now the shield of Russian aggression for others.
what we can all do
Ukrainians have shown great courage and stood up to the world’s bully with a much bigger and better-equipped military but they need our help. Western governments are starting to provide more military aid but Ukrainian soldiers and civilians-turned-warriors still desperately lack basic tactical gear, hospitals don’t have enough supplies to treat the wounded, and elementary items like clean water have been eliminated in many places by the destruction of Putin’s armies.
With your help, we can provide aid. Since the beginning of the war, we have built a network of volunteers who can help those in need in real-time. Supplies are purchased in neighboring countries or shipped from the US to Poland where they are hand-delivered from one volunteer to another until they reach their final destination. The entire process takes just a few days.
